Indoor climbing is one of the country’s fastest growing sports … it’s fun, exciting and everyone can have a go and above all it is safe! The Tower Climbing Centre is the East Midlands highest and most extensive climbing facility. It offers an open door to a new challenge and adventurous life, for all ages and all abilities.
The growth of extreme/adventure ports over the past few years is marked, and the need for specialist training has never been greater. The Tower Climbing Centre provides a number of adventurous activities, climbing and mountaineering skills training and coaching programmes uniquely tailored to all levels of the extreme sports enthusiast, written and overseen by our expert instructors – all specialists in their own field. The Tower Climbing Centre is a unique facility in the East Midlands, offering training facilities and courses from grass roots junior/adult beginner to specialist 1 to 1 advanced coaching.
The Tower Climbing Centre at a glance … There are three climbing areas, “The Tower” 15m lead wall, “The Bouldering Wall” with an Arch & Cave and “The Bloc” 8 m training room with 12 bottom ropes in-situ. The centre boasts over 200 established routes from F4 to F8b+, a total surface area of 600m2 and provides a unique and friendly base for the teaching of rock climbing in all it’s forms.

The Tower Climbing Centre is usually quiet during the day and it tends to get busy in the evening around 6pm. We do have school groups come in and use the wall in the day times, if you require any further information about bringing your school group please contact the wall. Saturdays are fairly busy with kid’s courses on all day, although these are sectioned to certain areas of the wall and we do welcome casual climbers at weekends.
Member Requirements All new members joining The Tower Climbing Centre must successfully pass a climbing wall competency test before they can begin climbing, this should only take a few minutes. You must be able to answer yes to all of the following questions:
I can put on a sit harness/full body harness* I can tie into a harness with a SUITABLE KNOT* I can belay using a sit harness and belay device correctly* I have read, understood and accept the RESPONSIBILITY OF USERS notes I can confirm that I have no medical reasons which prevents me from carrying out climbing activities. I am aware of the hazards/dangers associated with bouldering.
Your competence in performing the above tasks marked with a * will be assessed by one of the Centre’s qualified instructors.
Novice Climbers Climbers who have not passed the Tower Climbing Centre’s competency test, must be supervised by a competent climber who is registered with the centre. The registered competent climber can sign in up to TWO Novice Climbers.
The staff at the Tower Climbing Centre will be happy to guide you through the registration process and answer any questions that you may have. Registration is Free!
