There are quite a few climbing clubs in the Midlands and around Leicestershire offering a variety of different trips and outings. Climbing Clubs are often the best ways to meet new people in the same area as yourself all with similar interests.
They usually meet once a week and climb at the weekends. The type of trips and outings they do vary from club to club. There are generally some form of subs or membership fee, again this is dependant on the club and what they do.

The club list below should provide you with some information.

Moat Climbing Club.
16 + Years. All levels of experience including complete novices.
We meet weekly at Moat Community College.
Wednesdays 6 – 8pm.

Trips away, walking and climbing. Weekends & overnight trips also

Bowline Climbing Club.
The Bowline Climbing Club is an active and friendly Leicester based club. It holds regular meets throughout the UK and further afield.

As well as rock climbing and mountaineering club members participate in many other outdoor activities.  Most weekends club members go climbing in the Peak or go away for a meet.  We also go climbing locally in Leicestershire on Tuesday evenings from April onwards.

The club meets every Wednesday from 9:30 p.m. in the Hare and Hounds Pub, Bradgate Road, Anstey. You are welcome to come along to meet the members and find out more about the club.

Redrope Climbing Club.
A club for politically left-of-centre walkers and climbers

Social meets - First Tuesday of each month - pub social at the Swan and Rushes on the corner of Oxford Street and Jarrom Street at 9.15 pm.

Climbing meets - every Monday 6.30 pm, Tower climbing wall, Beaumont Leys Leisure Centre.  Also Wednesday evenings at  Moat community college 6pm.

Hinckley Mountaineering Club.

Mountaineering, Rock Climbing, Walking, Mountain Biking & Skiing.
Weekends and Week long trips arranged to North Wales, Lakes, Scotland and even the Alps!

Also meet most Thursday evenings at the Tower Climbing Centre from 6pm with the 1st Thursday of the month being the main club night.

Meet every Thursday in the Black Horse, Hinckley at 9:00pm

The Leicestershire Mountaineers Association.

The Leicestershire Mountaineers Association. We are based in the Midlands but includes members from all over the country.
We hold monthly meets to most British mountaineering areas. Longer meets are often held throughout the year both in the UK and abroad.

In addition, the association holds regular training sessions.

Many members are active in all areas of hill walking, mountaineering, rock climbing and winter mountaineering.

University of Leicester Mountaineering Club
University students only. Complete beginners welcome as full training is given by experienced members.
There are two training sessions a week at the Moat climbing wall (Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon) and unofficial trips to the Tower.

Trips every weekend go to the Peaks, the Lakes, Yorkshire, Wales and Scotland and further afield in the holidays.

As well as climbing and mountaineering we have a good social life to with an annual ball, regular pub crawls, special christmas and new year trips and other social events including going to the Loaded dog every Tuesday after the Moat. Members also enjoy cycling, kayaking and walking.

DeMontfort University Mountaineering Club
Club is open to students from both DMU and Leicester College.

Climbers of all levels are welcome, tuition will be given to begginers in,
climbing, belaying and equipment.

Club meets 6.30pm Thursdays outside the DMU Students Union and walk down to
Leicester College Abbey Park Climbing wall. Plus most members climb at the
Tower weekly.

Regular trips are run to various desinations across the country. Plus one
trip abroad per year.

Club has a large social side meeting in the Gateway Pub at 9.30pm on
Thurdays, regular socials to different locations are run monthly, including
Christmas Meal and Colours Ceremony each year.

Woverhampton Mountaineering Club

Formed over 50 years ago, Wolverhampton Mountaineering Club is a very active
and friendly club of around 100 members. We enjoy walking, climbing and
skiing in the UK and abroad, including the Alps and Himalayas. There are
also possibilities for caving through the Club's close association with the
Wolverhampton Caving Group.
